Northern Stage
FREE
In September Northern Stage will be undertaking a week long residency with internationally renowned Chinese artist Wang Qingsong.
Strangers sitting in close proximity, waiting to be seen, to be enlightened, to be healed… Caught up in the corridors of an artificially lit hospital or sitting confined in a dark theatre.
This new photographic work will explore the notion of pain and healing, and of theatre as a cathartic experience.
300 local volunteers will be part of this unique live installation with acclaimed artist Wang Qingsong, whose ironic, humorous photographs hover provocatively between fiction and reality.
The one-day process will be photographed, documented and transmitted live onto screens throughout Northern Stage with the final piece being exhibited at Baltic from the 21 October – 24 November.
