World Music Young DJ Challenge

As part of Refugee Week in Newcastle, on 20th of June NECDAF will present a competition in partnership with the Strategic Migration Partnership, North East Regugee Service and the Regional Refugee Forum asking DJs aged 23 and under to present a 20 minute "set" of dance (i.e. club) music from all over the world in the Banqueting Suite at Newcastle Civic Centre.

We believe that music has a special capacity to introduce people to the cultures of different communities now living in North East England.

The competition will be judged by club promoters and managers from Newcastle and prizes will include DJ equipment and accessories as well as opportunities to play "guest slots" in Newcastle clubs.

Two Cultural Management Degree Students from Northumbria University are participating in developing the project.
